U.S. Concrete On-Site, Inc.

A few weeks ago I spent some time in New Orleans with Dustin and was able to get some time out on the job. It worked out well, since I decided to do a really big project for my Journalism/New Media class on him and this way I could really get some honest shots of him in action. It was really fun seeing what they do out there and how everything comes together. Unfortunately I took the wrong lens by mistake...so this was all with the 50mm portrait lens rather than the 18-135 zoom which would have been much more ideal for this situation. It was a challenge but I made it work. Here are some of the better pictures of my guy hard at work :)

For anyone interested, here is the final project I ended up with: http://tiger.towson.edu/~bbowli1/slideshow/index.html

Spring is here!

Because of the last few weeks of school (presentations, projects, papers, and exams), I've hardly had any time lately to play with the camera. I was home for a few extra days this weekend and was feeling accomplished after getting a great deal of school-work done, so I picked up the camera and felt so refreshed from my few weeks away from it and just the whole vibe of spring...the fresh air and colors are so beautiful this time of year. :)

I played with the boys a little bit, using the 18-135 Nikkor and the 50mm...still trying to get a hang of the 50 but I thought these were fun and colorful. Enjoy!

Beach!

Not this past Sunday, but the Sunday before, Mom and I took the dogs to the beach over on the Gertz's property that they are so nice enough to let us use every once in a while. While we live on the water, we are on the creek side and the bank tends to be very muddy, whereas they have a fair amount of river side which is almost all sand. It was such a beautiful day and Arch's first time swimming! He took to it so naturally and didn't even skip a beat going in after Riley.

P.S. Archie howls :)

Sam and Riley go for a field trip

This afternoon, the sun came out and although it was still chilly, Sam, Riley and I took a little trip around the fields. We wandered up to the back field to sniff around and trudge through some slop, we visited with the hungry ponies and because they were so hungry, we brought them in. Then, Sam and I waddled back to the house (because we were a little fatigued from our jaunt), yet Riley still had enough energy to check out the pond, play some soccer, and even go for a swim and tear around just long enough in the dirt to turn himself into a big brown mess. Enjoy! :)

Nothing to write home about

Just a few new doggy pictures...nothing special though. I am getting so sick of taking pictures with these horrid leafless tree and bare field backdrops...where is spring and all of the colors that come with it? I can't wait.

And how did I ever live before Adobe Lightroom? Definitely the greatest Adobe invention ever. Looking back at all of my pictures prior to Lightroom...there is just nothing special going on. Now the trick is learning how to not over-post-process. It's all about trial and error. But anyways...here's just a few so-so new pictures. Enjoy!
